The ICT Solutions Day (February 28, 2013) is a day-long session where client countries and internal and external experts will come together to get hands-on experience on developing Smart Solutions using information and communications technologies (ICT) to tackle development challenges.
This event is being held under the auspices of the of the Eastern Partnership Platform 4 ‘Contacts between People’ and aims to improve e-infrastructures in the partner countries.
The Newsletter presents mainly the first findings and achievements of the project registered in the period December 2011 – November 2012.
HP-SEE (High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for South East Europe’s Research Communities) project opens a pilot call for proposals, for provision of project access to HPC resources available in South East Europe. The call is addressed to scientists of the region in the fields of Computational Chemistry, Computational Physics, Life Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences, and Engineering. In collaboration with the LinkSCEEM-2 project, HP-SEE will also provide limited resources to applications from the Eastern Mediterranean region. The pilot call enables researches from the South Eastern European region to obtain access to powerful national High Performance Computing systems available in the SEE region, for a period of 12 months, starting from December 1st, 2012.
The ICT Proposers' Day is a unique networking opportunity to build partnerships and projects targetting the new Information and Communication Technologies Work Programme for 2013. The event will be held on 26-27 September, in Warsaw, Poland.
A workshop dedicated to development of an eHealth strategy in the Republic of Moldova was organized on 8–9 August 2012 with WHO support. The primary objective of the workshop was to agree on the main eHealth actions needed in the short and long term and to define requirements and outcome measurements for development of the strategy.
According to the international Webometrics Ranking as of July 2012 (a top of 4000 websites from a total of 7532 analyzed), the website of the Information Society Development Institute www.idsi.md holds the first position at the visibility indicator among 20 web sites of Research and Development (R&D) organizations from Moldova included in the top (8 of the websites were developed by IDSI), the 2nd position at size indicator and rich files and the 4th position at scholar indicator.
On 28th March, 2012, a delegation from Republic of Korea visited the Information Society Development Institute (ISDI) in order to assess whether in its frame may be opened an Information Access Center (IAC).
The presentations given at the event focused on cloud computing initiatives and their use both for e-government, as well as eInfrastructures.
